Upgrade the structure in stages
Each altar tier asks for a larger multiblock footprint. Mark the future outline before placing decorative walls. A simple floor pattern or temporary blocks makes expansion predictable and reduces the chance that your “finished” room blocks the next tier.
Pick runes to solve a bottleneck
Runes are most useful when they answer a specific problem: generation, transfer, capacity, or processing speed. Adding only speed can make an altar look faster while starving it of LP. Balance the system so the input rate and storage can support the processing rate.
Design for maintenance
Leave walkways to inspect runes and room for automation if your modpack supports it. A beautiful altar that is impossible to access becomes frustrating later. Use symmetry as a visual guide, but prioritize readable layers and safe movement.
